Pakuranga Park invited visitors to try bowls and croquet

At Real Living, fostering a strong connection with our surrounding community is paramount. With this objective at heart, Pakuranga Park recently organized two 'Try it out' events aimed at engaging with visitors who are curious about the village and would like to see the atmosphere of a normal day.

Bowls and croquet are two of the most popular sports at Pakuranga Park, with residents playing them every week and holding regular competitions and tournaments. On Thursday, the 14th of March, the public was welcomed to come along and try bowls under the guidance of local experts. The event was a success, with residents and visitors engaging with one another, sharing experiences, and having lots of fun. At the end, they all enjoyed tea, jam, and cream scones, as is customary with many of our events at Pakuranga Park!

Research shows that being open to new experiences and trying new hobbies keeps you young at heart. This is a philosophy embraced wholeheartedly by Pakuranga Park Village. The residents of this retirement community are always receptive to trying new activities, and these 'Try it out' events provided them with the opportunity to share their knowledge with newcomers.

On Monday the 18th of March, the village invited anyone interested in engaging in croquet. The group of residents participating included people of all abilities, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for visitors who had never played before. At the end of the games, residents and visitors indulged in savoury muffins with tea, the ideal conclusion to a splendid summer day.

Croquet and bowls are enjoyed three times per week at the impressive green lawn area in front of the village’s community center. The residents also arrange regular competitions between residents and staff, with the residents' consistently emerging victorious!

Pakuranga Park Village is a retirement community with a special vibe. Our residents are friendly, generous-spirited, and enjoy the adventure of daily life rather than simply relaxing and shying away from challenges. They are also a very social bunch who laugh easily and share a common sense of fun.
